Getting Back on Track
Like many in America, I let last week’s election get the better of me and short-circuit some of my habits. Writing these updates regularly was one of them. But that’s OK because I’m back at it this week.
This is the power of process.
When I decided to start writing about digital operations more regularly, I set a schedule for myself. I publish every Tuesday and Thursday. My schedule has suggested topics for the next several months. These help me reduce the friction of regular writing. They also make it far easier to restart a lapsed habit. Missed a day? Just pick up where you left off. Don’t know what to write about? Just follow the prompt.
Having a set process for your own work can do the same. Not only will it make your output more consistent, it will support you when you’re not feeling 100% and help you get back on track if you’ve hit a rut.
If there’s a thing you want to do with regularity—even if it generally comes easy to you—I guarantee that turning it into a more structured procedure will return benefits to you…probably sooner than you think!
